POPULAR remedies with
olive oil
Antifebrile Action (To
reduce fever): Cook 60g of olive leaves for a quarter of an
hour. Take three cups of this juice a day. You can also macerate 60g of
bark in 250g of edible alcohol, take 20 drops three times daily.
Laxative: In
cases of constipation, take a couple of teaspoons of olive oil on an
empty stomach.
Hemorrhoids: To
alleviate them, cook 30g of olive bark, per litre of water. With the
water, wash the affected area.
To heal
wounds, sores or other skin conditions: Cook 30g of olive
leaves per litre of water. With the water, wash the affected area.
Wound healing:
Mix olive oil with red wine and honey, in equal parts, and the mixture
is spread over the wound to heal. It is said that this mix is a
wonderful healer.
Nail Care:
Place olive oil in a glass, about a couple of fingers deep and submerge
your nails in it for 5 minutes once a day before bedtime.
Streaks on the nails:
massage nail cuticles with olive oil before you go to bed.
Relieve tired feet:
Put a few drops of olive oil in the palm of your hand and massage your
foot.
Ear
blockages: Olive oil is useful to soften any blockages and to
facilitate their subsequent removal. You put a few drops of olive oil in
the ear and cover the ear with cotton. Leave overnight and the next
morning remove the cotton wool and apply warm water with a special
syringe without a needle.
Painful gums:
To calm the nerves and the pain that gums produce during the teething
stage in young children, rub the gums with a little olive oil.
Rosacea (chronic
condition of facial redness): To improve symptoms or delay
their appearance, massage daily for three or four minutes with olive
oil.
Snoring: There
is no definitive remedy against snoring, but this can help. Place, in an
airtight container 50g of rue and add olive oil to cover it. This
mixture is allowed to marinate for 14 days on the windowsill, during
both day and night. After that, store it in a dark container to avoid
damaging any of its properties. It must be applied before going to
sleep, smearing into three zones: the nostrils, neck and nape of the
neck.
High Blood Pressure:
To reduce high blood pressure, take an olive leaf tea before lunch and
another before dinner.
Gallstones in the liver, bladder and kidneys: To expel
these stones you should take this mixture: half a glass of olive oil,
with half a slice of pureed green pineapple. This mixture should be
taken on an empty stomach once every 6 days. You can also take a
tablespoon of olive oil with the juice of 2 or 3 lemons every 3 hours.
Crow's feet:
In a heat-bath put 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of beeswax and
half a teaspoon of cocoa butter. Cool and add two tablespoons of
rosewater. Stir until you have a thick paste and apply directly to the
crow's feet.
Moisturiser for dry
skin: Mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil with two tablespoons of
liquefied lanolin in a water bath and apply to the skin.
Damaged hair:
The hair will regain lost vitality and shine from this treatment in
order to restore its natural beauty. Simply apply a few drops of olive
oil on the hair and allow oil to take effect, apply 10 minutes before
washing.
Arthritis / rheumatism: Make an ointment base of 25 cl.
of olive oil and dried chamomile flowers. The mixture is heated in a
water bath for half an hour, cooled and filtered. Subsequently mix
separately a tablespoon of camphor and 3 tablespoons of alcohol to 60 °.
This mixture is incorporated into the previous infusion. Apply and
massage into joints two times a day.
