Ham pasties with swiss chard Empanadillas de acelgas y jamón serrano

TERUEL HAM PASTIES WITH SWISS CHARD

  

 Ingredients: 

200 gr. swiss chard 

100 gr. serrano ham from Teruel


3 carrots 

12 pasty cases 

1/4 l. milk 

25 gr. flour 

1 cup of tomato sauce

1 egg

water 

olive oil from Lower Aragón 


 

Preparation:

Wash and chop the chard (leaf and stalk) and cook in a saucepan with boiling water.  

Wash the carrots and cook them in a separate saucepan.

Chop them and set them aside. 

To make the bechamel sauce, put a little bit of olive oil in a saucepan.  

Chop the serrano ham from Teruel and add it to the olive oil to cook.

Add the flour, cook briefly and next pour the milk in little by little, stirring constantly.

Add the cooked vegetables to the bechamel and mix well. 

Leave it off the heat, to cool.  

When the sauce is cold, fill the pasty cases with it and seal them.

Place the pasties on a baking tray, galze them with beaten egg and cook them in the oven at a temperature of 200ºC for 6 minutes.

Place them on a plate and accompany them with the tomato sauce.
